So today I was beating around the kitchen and my eyes fell on the bananas I bought last week at the supermarket. They looked like this.
I don't know how things are at your house, but this is the death knell for bananas around here. Once they reach this stage, no one will touch them.
I had my Deceptively Delicious cookbook out earlier today, and suddenly decided that puree was the way to go with these poor things. I tossed them in the blender with a little lemon juice and some water and blended them nicely.
I put them through a strainer afterward because if my kids so much as get a glimpse of banana pulp, it's all over.
I was left with a smooth, creamy bowlful of banana and lemon puree. Yum! Now what to do with it?
