Up Goes the Tree

So Christmas has arrived at the House from 1800:)  The Hub and I had a few rare days off together last week, and so we popped in a copy of Miracle on 34th Street (the remake--I LOVE it!), and put up the tree...

In case you didn't notice, it's a work in progress.  The topper isn't up and there are only a hodge podge of ornaments here and there because I have to go get some hooks.  The tinsel is a little loopy too...thanks to Junior the cat.

What?

It's an artificial slim paley pine tree that I scored an incredible deal on online at Home Depot last year after Christmas.  It's a nine-footer, pre-lit, and with pine cones and sticks and all sorts of natural-looking do-dads and gee-haws.

So of course we packed it full of plastic ornaments:)

Here are some of my favorites:

Little quilted log cabin square, made by my mom.  There's a pocket on the back for a gift card.  I thought that was ingenious:)

My daughter's handprint from 1st grade.

A stocking my sister made, many moons ago:)

A heart the kids worked on together, using perler beads.

Ornament made by my daughter in school.

Hub and I picked this up at the beach on our honeymoon 12 years ago:)

The First Gift of Christmas bells I got the kids the year they were so into The Polar Express.

This is only a sampling of my favorite ornaments.  I found some up on the attic in my in-law's house too, but I haven't had time to go through them yet.  I'm sure there's some new favorites in there:)

I'll put up a finished pic of the tree as soon as it's all decked out and fluffed and regal-looking.
